Landmarks

Wootten Road Reserve and Goddard Street Reserve are the largest parks, at about 10 hectares each. The playground at Hummingbird Boulevard Reserve is one of the council's larger district playgrounds, and there's a skate park at Baden Powell Drive Reserve. Julia Gillard Library is the local library. Tarneit Central, Tarneit Gardens, Wyndham Village and Riverdale Village are the main shopping centres. Getting around

Tarneit Station is about 1.3 kilometres from the suburb centre and West Tarneit Station about 2.6 kilometres. Both are on the V/Line Geelong line, and Tarneit also has Warrnambool services. Buses 150, 151, 152, 154, 160, 167, 170, 180, 181, 182 and 186 run through Tarneit. By car, Hoppers Crossing is about 10 minutes away, Werribee about 13, Point Cook about 17 and the Melbourne CBD about 30, without traffic.

Toddlers and younger kids, with plenty of local playgrounds and parks. Rainy days at Julia Gillard Library. Teens who skate or ride, with the skate park at Baden Powell Drive Reserve and the Skeleton Creek Trail. Free days close to home.
